The specific objectives are:

  • Equip MFIs with necessary knowledge and skills to enhance the provision of microfinance services
  • Provide MFIs with practical and readily applicable tools that lead to better institutional and operational policies in financial service delivery
  • Update MFIs on latest innovations and trends in financial service delivery that benefit microenterprises
  • Identify good practices and challenges of MFIs in financial service delivery to come up with policy recommendations at the MFI level and government

Marketing and Communications Officer’s Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Produce marketing collaterals (posters, flyers, infographics, etc.) using prescribed brand guidelines.
  2. Write communication materials, such as press releases and feature articles.
  3. Attend and document internal and external events.
  4. Manage social media account/s (current: Facebook and Twitter)
    This includes, but is not limited to:

    • Creating, curating, and managing all published content (images, video, and written);
    • Compiling reports showing results.
  5. Create content and manage website (WordPress).
  6. Develop and execute email marketing and public relations campaigns.
  7. Analyze campaigns and translate qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising marketing plan / campaigns.
  8. Perform other related tasks/functions as may be assigned by the President and the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

  1. 1-2 years work experience.
  2. Must have excellent communication (English and Filipino) and interpersonal skills.
  3. Must have writing and basic Photoshop skills.
  4. With initiative and can work with minimal supervision.
  5. Basic photo and video editing skills, a plus.

Ateneo LSE is a collaboration among the following organizations: Ateneo School of Government (ASoG), Overseas Filipinos Society for the Promotion of Economic Security (OFSPES), UGAT Foundation, and  Social Enterprise Development Partnerships, Inc. (SEDPI).

Farmers train on microfinance

Farmers belonging to Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) in Batangas were recently trained on microfinance to improve their organizations’ social and financial performance.

The training entitled Fundamentals and Methodologies of Microfinance and Character and Capacity-Based Lending, was conducted by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in partnership with the Social Enterprise Development Partnerships Incorporated (SEDPI).

DAR Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Merle H. Manalo said objective of the training is “to enhance the capacity of our ARBOs in managing their microfinance services.”

She said the knowledge that the ARBOs acquired from the training should translate into a more effective and efficient microfinance services to its members, increased outreach of members served, and better incomes for the ARBOs and the member-borrowers.

“As a follow-through or post-training activity, the ARBOs will be assisted by the DARPO in improving their existing processes, systems and procedures utilizing the methodologies and tools imparted by SEDPI,” Manalo said.

During the training, SEDPI provided a compressed version of its Technical and Monitoring Assistance (TAMA), which closely supervised and monitored DAR assisted ARBOs progress towards financial and organizational sustainability.news regional 1 pix 2 july 28 2016.

SEDPI Chief Operations Officer Emilenn Kate Sacdalan said “TAMA seeks to deliver capacity building interventions to ARBOs. This will help them develop a capable management team which would guide them in the delivery of agri-products, access to credit and financial services to their clients.”

The ARBOs who participated in the training were the SAPAGLAYA MPC, Mountainside MPC, Dayapan MPC, Mayuro MPC, PIFADECO, KAMAHARI ABMPC, Lucban MPC, Magahis MPC, Haybanga MPC and Prenza MPC.

Miguel Roberto Parungo

Miguel Roberto Parungo, or Rob, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications Technology Management from the Ateneo de Manila University. His academic experiences immersed him in different fields of studies, such as communications, multi-media, and information technology. These different fields of studies taught him how they have changed and will change the relationship of people and businesses altogether.

He actively participated in various student-based organizations and projects that cultivated his passion for development work. He served in Tugon Ateneo, an organization that advocates against the existence of child sexual abuse in the country. As Assistant Area Head to one of the partner institutions of Tugon Ateneo in 2013, he was tasked to design and execute sustainable systems to improve the organization’s area engagements. He also spearheaded Lights for Hope which was formerly known as Blue Christmas, a university-wide project that celebrates Christmas with over a thousand public school children. He, along with his team, pushed for innovations while expanding the experience of the project to the different school units and more children. He is also part of the Loyola Mountaineers, an organization that advocates environmental preservation and rehabilitation. Rob co-headed Loyola Mountaineer’s Indigenous People’s Forum, which discussed the rights of the Philippines’ indigenous peoples with the assistance from the National Commissions of Indigenous People.

His experiences in project management and social work, along with his persistence for innovation and change, fuels him to work in the development sector.
